Salt Lake City “Downtown Farmer’s Market”

A couple of Saturdays ago, we went to the Farmer’s Market at Pioneer Park in downtown Salt Lake City. It’s such an eclectic, fun experience that you just have to go at least once. I was able to get fresh produce to enjoy all week including the most beautiful green beans, corn on the cob and eggplant. Of course, I must have my fresh Kettle Corn…warm, sweet and delicious.

The “Downtown Farmer’s Market”, was created in 1992 by the Downtown Alliance. Now a summer tradition, the market gives local growers and vendors the opportunity to sell to the public. And, it’s not just a produce market…there were flowers, jellies, ethnic foods, jewelry, bakeries and so much more…

I even got a 5 minute massage for $5 and they would have gone longer if I was willing to pay! I especially enjoyed a booth with fresh lavender which the family grows in their front yard. They also make and sell all kinds of lavender products too. So nice…

I had a fun experience at a bakery booth where I met a really nice French man who is going to teach me how to make croissants for this blog later this fall. I offered to pay for my lesson and he said “I will teach you the art of making croissants but you will not pay”! It should be really fun and of course, I’ll pass the knowledge on to each of you!

I hope you enjoy the many photos that Bill took…they will give you an idea just how cool the Farmer’s Market is (see below)!  Maybe you can go one Saturday and have as much fun as we did (if you live in Utah that is)!
